Made It In Portsmouth: Maggie Sawkins

Hailing from Portsmouth, Maggie Sawkins began writing poetry at the tender age of nine and went on to be published at only 17 years old. Maggie returned to education after a series of office jobs and gained an MA with distinction for creative writing. She has taught students with specific learning difficulties for the past 18 years at South Downs College in Portsmouth and founded the popular Tongues and Grooves Poetry and Music Club in Southsea. Maggie won the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry in 2014.
