Lizzie Butcher, Community Sports Development Manager at BH Live
“Ever since I was a young girl, I always had a passion for Sports and Physical activity.
In 2012, I went to Southampton Solent University to study Sports Development and Coaching and ran a number of initiatives to change people’s lives through sport. This included my “Mums on the Move” programme which engaged isolated mums in physical activity to make theirs, but also their children’s lifestyle healthier. I ended with a first class honours degree and then began coaching for Winchester City Council in schools.
I also started Walking Netball and Couch to 5k groups to get people back into physical activity.
I am now currently working as a Community Sports Development Manager for BH Live, working with the community to put on more sports activities, no matter the age or ability. I have seen so many people change through sports initiatives including feeling less isolated, losing weight but also feeling more productive and having far more energy.
Taking part in some form of exercise should be a part of people’s daily lives and I am keen to get my hands stuck into this project to get workplaces and businesses in Portsmouth healthy and happier!”
