Submissions from Year 3 pupils at Arundel Court Primary Academy
How would you draw, paint or photograph your local neighbourhood? Aspex Gallery and Southsea Lifestyle have asked people living within the PO area to visually respond to what they love or loathe about their local area.
Hundreds of residents, of all ages and abilities have submitted postcard-sized artworks, resulting in a new exhibition at Aspex Gallery in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth.
From these entries, a select few will feature within local publication Southsea Lifestyle and one winner will be showcased in the Guest Relations Suite in Gunwharf Quays, the South Coast’s premium retail outlet.
Following the exhibition at Aspex, all of the postcards will be donated to the Portsmouth City Archive, creating a visual reflection of our local area for future generations.
Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex said “We are thrilled that this partnership has given Aspex the opportunity to showcase the creative contributions of local residents of all ages. The artworks are stunning and will provide our visitors with an extremely entertaining exhibition”.
A public celebration event was held at the Gallery on Saturday 10 February, which was attended by Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr. Lee Mason.
Postcard entries are welcome throughout the exhibition period. Details of how to submit postcards can be found here.
The exhibition will be running until Sunday 15th April 2018.
