Portsmouth City Council hosted their first Portsmouth Apprentice Team Challenge at Portsmouth Guildhall on Tuesday 6 March 2018 for apprentices currently employed by the council.
28 apprentices, aged 16 - 40, were divided into four teams to take part in various tasks throughout the day. Tasks included agreeing a company name and designing a logo, taking photos at locations around the city and producing a London Underground advertising campaign to encourage people to visit Portsmouth.
The final task was to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, which included the Leader of Portsmouth City Council, Councillor Donna Jones. She said: "I was pleased to support the event and judge the teams' adverts to promote Portsmouth. I’m especially pleased that at the city council we have 114 apprentices, 69 of whom are new to the organisation and many are under the age of 25. I'm pleased that as one of the largest employers in the city we are helping to create employment and up-skill young people.“
The winning team were presented with gift vouchers as a prize.
