Portsmouth has been allocated £384,000 for 2018-19 as one of the recipients of the £30m Rough Sleeping Initiative Grant.
The money has been provided by government to provide immediate support available to people living on the streets and help them into accommodation.
In Portsmouth the money will be used to extend the support available to people using the night bed service; extend the opening times of the Portsmouth Homeless day service - to be able to provide additional support with health and employment needs; and to support rough sleepers in the city with their individual challenges and needs.
Cllr Darren Sanders, Cabinet Member for Housing at Portsmouth City Council said "We're pleased to have been given this additional funding to help tackle homelessness. The issues affecting homeless people are multiple, complex and different for each individual. This grant will enable us to support those individuals' needs and help them take steps toward a more positive future."
