Portsmouth City Council's Bike Doctors have added more dates to their schedule this summer.
A new venue and extra dates have been arranged to help those who have been making the most of the warmer dryer weather, and whose bikes are in need of a little TLC.
A team of bike mechanics will be on hand between 10am and 4pm on Monday 30 July, 6 and 13 August at St Mary's Church in Fratton. They will check bikes are fit for the road, testing everything from wheels and gears, to brakes and lights. Any minor adjustments or basic repairs can be made there and then too. If they can't fix it immediately, they will let cyclists know exactly what needs doing and a rough cost.
These extra events have been funded by the council's Air Quality Fund. In March, the council was awarded £450,000 from the government's £260million Clean Air Fund to deliver a series of sustainable travel initiatives to improve air quality across the city, and in particular in the city's five remaining Air Quality Management Areas.
Bike Doctors continue to run events at Commercial Road every Wednesday between 10 and 4pm, and every third Monday in Cosham High Street. For more details visit www.portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
