Portsmouth's Sports Council's young sports person of the year award is now open for entries.
The award aims to celebrate young people's sporting successes and is open to Portsmouth residents aged 18 and under who are currently competing in sport at a high level.
Anyone can nominate a young person for the award; parent, coach, club, school or college. Nominees must be training or members of a club within the city for a sport which is recognised by Sport England.
The scheme is established by Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth Sports Council as part of our commitment to support local young people with the talent and prowess to compete in sport at the highest level regionally and nationally.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture Leisure and Sport at Portsmouth City Council said:
"We hope to get many more entries for this year's award. We know there's lots of deserving young sports people training hard at their disciplines in the city. They deserve recognition for their achievements and commitments, so I'd encourage parents, schools and coaches to get their nominations in before the 31 January closing date."
Judging will take place in February and the main prize will be a cheque for £250.
