Shaping Portsmouth’s 2019 Conference is the most successful yet

on .

Feedback from Shaping Portsmouth’s annual conference, held at Portsmouth Guildhall on 18th January, has once again been overwhelmingly positive.

Delegates responding to the follow-up survey after the event gave an average rating of 4.28 out of 5, with 90% saying they would definitely come back next year, and 10% saying they would consider coming back. No one said they would not consider attending next year.

It was also the best-attended conference Shaping has held, with over 330 people in attendance, nearly 100 people more than attended in 2018. Tickets for the event sold out the week before.

The event, Shaping Portsmouth Together, focused on how Shaping and others can help support the community, the work their Roadmap To A Career (RTAC) programme is doing, and how to celebrate the city's volunteers.

Speakers on the day included Andy Grays, launching the Portsmouth Convention Bureau, Deputy Leader of Portsmouth City Council Cllr Steve Pitt, The Makers Guild, Helen Bonser-Wilton from the Mary Rose Museum, and Luke Newton from Sweat Southsea, along with panel discussions on the RTAC programme and organisations supporting our communities. The Conference also celebrated achievements in the City with the Shaping Portsmouth Awards.

Yvonne Clay, Senior Marketing Manager at Gunwharf Quays, who was also the compere for the day said “The Shaping Conference was an incredibly positive experience, and there was a great energy throughout the day. It was inspiring to hear from such a varied choice of speakers about how they are working hard to grow and support Portsmouth, both economically and culturally. I came away proud to be a part of it!”

Neil Chapman, Managing Director at Hovertravel, and one of Shaping’s board of directors added “This year’s conference once again demonstrated the City’s best in business, as they networked, supported and developed together for the good of all in the great City of Portsmouth”

Shaping would like to thank Portsmouth Guildhall for hosting us, Portsmouth College for filming the event, and Southern Co-Operative for sponsoring the awards.

Next year's conference, with the theme of Building Our Future, is expected to be held on Friday 17th January 2020, and expressions of interest in exhibiting are already being received.
