Portsmouth City Council is asking local people for their help in improving the area around Horatia and Leamington Houses after the tower blocks are taken down.

The 1960s blocks, in Meriden Road and Earlsdon Street, are being removed after the council found problems with the original concrete construction while cladding was being removed.

Leader of the council Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson said: "We want to know what people think before we start putting together plans for the area. We've said we will replace the 272 homes in Horatia and Leamington with a minimum of the same number of units at social rents. This can be done in a number of different ways so it's very important to us that people have the chance to be heard."

The council's cabinet member for Housing Cllr Darren Sanders said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to make improvements so we want to hear the ideas, suggestions and thoughts of the local people, businesses and partner organisations who this matters most to. We want to make sure that we make the most of this chance to make positive changes to the area after the blocks have gone."

You can let the council know what you think by phone, email, post or in person.

You can get in touch in one of the following ways before Friday 5th July:
