Ian Dory has started his challenge to walk around the Isle of Wight with a tumble dryer strapped to his back with the help of Hovertravel. Ian is walking to raise awareness and funds for Charlie’s Beach Hut, a charity that provides a relaxing environment for families of children with life limiting illnesses and families of fire-fighters that have suffered bereavement, or life changing injury whilst in the line of duty.
Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel, explains: “Kicking off his charity walk at Hovertravel’s Southsea terminal, Ian’s first few steps were up into the hovercraft and we wish him all the luck in the world in his challenge to raise £5000.”
Charlie’s Beach Hut was set up by the family of five-year-old Charlie Codling, who tragically passed away from a brain tumour in 2012 and aims to give families the opportunity to forge some forever memories, in a hope that they too can ‘find the wonderful in today’.
