Since opening its doors in December 2018, HIVE Portsmouth has gone from strength-to-strength having supported over 1600 residents, as well as supporting 95 individuals with innovative ideas to create social enterprise and over 200 groups in the city. In addition over 900 volunteers have been recruited through Together in HIVE Portsmouth.
To celebrate its first year, HIVE Portsmouth held a special Coffee, Cake and Creativity event on Wednesday 18 December. The event was an opportunity to find out what the team and others connected to HIVE Portsmouth have been doing over the past year. It was also a chance to network with others and get support from the HIVE Portsmouth team, and get an exciting preview of their new digital platform, the HIVE Directory.
The HIVE Directory is a directory of community services including voluntary/community and statutory organisations who support people in Portsmouth. From lunch clubs and group activities to mental health and veteran support, this platform will allow organisations and individuals a central point to access support within the city.
Father Bob White, Chair of HIVE Portsmouth said: "The HIVE Directory is the next step in the support HIVE Portsmouth offers to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
It has been created with the sector and not for the sector, meaning that we have pooled together to ensure that this platform helps those who are most in need."
Cllr. Steve Pitt Deputy Leader of Portsmouth City Council said: "It is exciting to see HIVE Portsmouth's continued success.
HIVE Portsmouth celebrates collaborative working and these networking events highlight just how important it is to acknowledge the amount of hard work undertaken by the voluntary and community sector in this city.
The introduction of the HIVE Directory will provide an opportunity for anyone to find information and support delivered by the voluntary and community sector across the whole of Portsmouth."
