UPDATE 11th March: Due to the on-going Coronavirus outbreak and following the government announcement about the possibility of the cancellation of public events in order to help stop the spread of the virus, Pure Offices Portsmouth have decided to postpone this event until late Summer 2020.

Julie Webber, Centre Manager said "Whilst our event was taking place out in the open and currently the risk in contracting the virus remains low, the situation is changing very quickly so we have decided to postpone this event”

Original Story 9th March:This Spring, Keep Britain Tidy is calling all LitterHeroes, to take action to improve the environment on their doorsteps by joining the country’s biggest mass participation environmental campaign - Great British Spring Clean!

Pure Offices Portsmouth are passionate about improving the local environment and helping to keep it clean so are taking up the challenge by hosting a public clean-up of its nearest beach, along Southampton Road, on the first day of Spring, 20th March,12 – 2pm.

There are lots of reasons why it’s important to get involved, not least the fact that more than 2.25 million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK every day, that The RSPCA received 7,400 calls to report incidents of animals injured by litter in 2018 and that around 80% of the plastic in our oceans comes from litter dropped inland!

Centre Manager, Julie Webber, comments “Everyone is invited to sign up and Pledge To Pick to be part of the solution and help ensure the plastic doesn’t reach the sea! We’ve reached out to local Community Groups, Schools and Businesses to take part and are delighted that The Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP will be joining us”

Penny Mordaunt MP said: “We are so lucky to live by the sea and we all have a responsibility to look after our environment. Beach cleans are a way we can all come together as a community to look after our home”

Katie Whell, Operations Director for Pure Offices comments “We manage office space in over 20 locations in the UK and are therefore acutely aware that our business activities can impact on the societies in which we operate.
We actively encourage all employees, to think broadly and to consider how our business fits into the wider community and how we can improve its impact on society as a whole. With the Portsmouth Centre located steps away from a beach, Julie has been able to support this national event in a really fun way, after all who doesn’t love to be beside the seaside!”
