Three of our green spaces in the city received Green Flag awards under the national scheme earlier this year - Baffins pond, Southsea rock garden and Milton park.

The scheme is now asking the public to vote - so you can pick your favourite. Find your nearest award-winning parks www.greenflagaward.org and vote for your favourite on the map.

Portsmouth parents urged to get online as school applications open

Portsmouth City Council 2016The application window for parents to apply for school places opens on Monday 9th September for children moving to junior school and secondary school.

Parents have plenty of time to apply online - the application deadlines are:

  • Transfer to secondary: Monday 9 September 2019 until midnight Thursday 31 October 2019.
  • Transfer to junior: Monday 9 September 2019 until midnight on 15 January 2020.

Ground investigation work to take place on Southsea seafront

Southsea Coastal SchemeFrom Monday 9th September, ground investigation work will be taking place along the Southsea seafront as part of the next stage of designs for new coastal defences.

These investigations will take place over a period of four weeks at two locations, on the promenade and beach adjacent to Long Curtain Moat and Clarence Pier car park as well as to the east and west of Southsea Castle.

Top local film-maker behind new Portsmouth promo video

A local film-maker who has worked for some of the world's top companies has turned his talents to promoting Portsmouth as a holiday destination.

Southsea-based James Sharp has travelled the globe working for clients including Nike, Adidas, Max Factor, Unilever, MTV and BMW. He has now been commissioned by Portsmouth City Council to make a video aimed at potential tourists.
