On Wednesday 10th November 2021, the South East Regional Employer Engagement Director Andrew Gibbs, along with the 6 Regiment Army Air Corp and hosted by Lt Col Andrew Bushby, invited local employers to witness the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by Fareham College, Eastleigh College and Expedition Security and of course enjoy breakfast, bringing together the best of military and business networking opportunities.
The event included a tour of the Duke of Connaught Barracks, a rare insight to the military at Peronne Road, Hilsea, and the highlight of a fly past of the Apache helicopter. If you heard the noise and looked up on Wednesday morning – you are right – it was military engagement with local employers who support and have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. A local connection that includes working with and alongside the aircraft carriers HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Other opportunities occur where employers that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant get invited to Leadership training, social and networking events, gala events and of course opportunities to understand the role the Armed Forces play and can also help our businesses.
You see it’s a two way street – sign the covenant, meet like-minded people, aligning values and be introduced to a whole new way of support and networking opportunities.
