Big-hearted college invests in community defibrillators

Three new defibrillators have been installed at City of Portsmouth College following an £18,000 investment.

The potentially life-saving equipment is now in place at each of the college campuses at Highbury, North Harbour, Arundel in Commercial Road and the Sixth Form campus in Tangier Road.

It’s also being registered with the ambulance service, so will soon be available for community use in the event of nearby emergencies.

“At the moment we have over 20 members of staff officially trained but the best thing about these bits of kits is that they are so simple to use that no one needs to be trained to use them, anyone can get one out of the cabinet and use it if needed,” said the college’s Health & Safety Manager Laura Cowper.

Defibrillator training will now be included in all future first aid training carried out for team members at the college.
