Endometriosis South Coast is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by endometriosis and adenomyosis through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Our primary aims are to raise awareness, provide resources and support for those diagnosed with the conditions, and advocate for better healthcare policies and research funding. We conduct workshops, support groups, and awareness campaigns to educate the public and medical professionals about endometriosis and its impact.
We seek trustees who are passionate about our cause and can contribute their expertise to further our mission. Trustees are expected to attend regular board meetings, participate in strategic planning, and support fundraising initiatives. They should also advocate for our organisation within their networks and assist in governance and oversight to ensure we meet our goals effectively and ethically.
By joining our board, trustees gain the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by endometriosis and adenomyosis. They will expand their professional networks, develop governance and leadership skills, and gain satisfaction from contributing to a meaningful cause. Trustees will also have access to exclusive training and development opportunities.
We are particularly interested in individuals with skills in funding/fundraising, legal expertise, healthcare, public relations, and non-profit management. Experience in strategic planning, and community engagement is also highly valued.
SHIFT is a small, peer-led charity based in Portsmouth. Our aim is to assist anyone who experiences mental and/or emotional distress (as the individual defines it) to a better life. We achieve this through group work, one to ones, advocacy and special events.
Our trustees have a variety of different skill sets. We have a retired businesswoman as chair, a retired accountant as treasurer, a National Implementation Manager for another charity as secretary and another manager as a general trustee (he has a particular interest in safeguarding.) Being a trustee for SHIFT looks great on a CV (One of our board has recently got a new job and used us as a character reference) and allows those who no longer work to give something back to the community. It’s a very friendly, well managed team and we’re incredibly grateful for their support. We ask our trustees to provide expert knowledge and guidance when we need it. So far, they’ve always delivered.
We’re particularly eager to find potential board members who have experience of HR and Health and Safety but are very happy to consider anyone who believes they can help with what we do.
Portsmouth City of Sanctuary (PCoS) supports refugees fleeing violence and persecution. We also address local issues of migrant vulnerability and indignity, demonstrating our ‘compassion, community and choice’ values and our commitment to c.40 active volunteers and 2000 local clients annually.
We launched in June 2019 to promote best practice supporting migrants to become as independent and integrated as possible. As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) from Dec 2020 we led, partnered with, and championed several local projects addressing Covid and other growing demands, including 2 weekly refugee hubs. As such, PCoS has a volunteer and client-led vision which:
Whilst few donate any funds, PCoS is supported by 270+ organisations and partners sharing our humanitarian values, including schools, colleges, faith, art, festival & community groups, charities, businesses, service providers, libraries, the Universities of P’mouth & Winchester, Pompey F.C and the Council (aiming to become a ‘Council of Sanctuary’).
FLOW OBSERVATORIUM is a small and well-established community arts and advocacy organisation based in Portsmouth. Its work is specifically focused on enabling and supporting artistic and creative activities for neurodivergent adults, especially autistic people. Jon Adams, who is an accomplished artist and an autistic person, leads the creative activities.
Flow is a registered charity and the Board of Trustees is now looking for additional trustees who can offer their skills and experience in supporting and developing the organisation’s on-going work. Previous experience in the field of community arts and/or in supporting neurodivergent people would be useful but is not essential.
