Skills & Employability

Vision & Mission

We have a 5 year skills strategy for the city. The objective is to have a highly skilled and motivated work force which will be utilised by our local businesses and to help as many people as possible out of employment into either self employment, permanent employment, up skilling courses or retraining courses.

We have joined together with partners from across the city to make a significant and ongoing difference to as many people as possible, who currently face more demanding and ever-changing skills and employability needs than any past generation.

Our vision is to have a set of ongoing offerings to use anytime to increase their skills portfolio and employability opportunities. All the existing programmes run by these partners are being brought together into one database so that we can communicate what’s already on offer. This will enable us to see where there are any gaps, and fill them with new partners and/or offerings.

This is part of the overall Education vision of Shaping’s called ‘Roadmap to a Career.’

Skills & Employability is delivered in partnership with:

Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, has helped us to maintain the brilliant progress we are making with this Programme. Thanks to the Government for making this possible.
