Business Workshops

A dynamic and interactive 90-minute style workshop delivered by Shaping Portsmouth in partnership with a local business or industry of your choice. These sessions are aimed at Year groups 9-11 and each session is catered for up to 20 students.

There are three types of workshop available:

Pitch Workshop

Students work in small teams to respond to a real-world brief set by an employer, then develop an idea and deliver a short elevator pitch back to them. It builds creativity, teamwork and communication skills, and shows how ideas are generated and presented in the workplace.

Have a Go

An employer introduces students to a real piece of equipment, tool or task from their industry, whether specialist kit or everyday items used creatively. Students learn what it does and why it matters, then try it safely with guidance, building confidence and a clearer understanding of job roles.

Real World Challenge

An employer sets a genuine challenge facing their sector or organisation, and students work in groups to analyse it and develop a practical, creative solution. The focus is on reasoning and problem solving rather than a formal pitch, and the employer closes by discussing how organisations tackle challenges in practice.
