This summer holiday from 26 July to 23 August, Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery are running a fantastic programme of fun activities as part of the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) Fun Pompey scheme. Families will discover Portsmouth’s heritage, the natural wonders of the area and stories of Tudor England.
The events are open to families with children from 5-11 years old. Free spaces are available for those eligible and pay as you go spaces are available at £7 per child per day and include a tasty lunch.
Councillor Suzy Horton, Cabinet Member for Children, Families & Education and Deputy Leader at Portsmouth City Council, said: “It’s great to hear about the events being put on by Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery during the summer holiday. The HAF Fun Pompey scheme has such a positive impact on all who are involved and it’s great to see the museum working with the programme again. Families will be able to participate in a wide range of activities and learn a great deal about Portsmouth’s history.”
All events are at Portsmouth Museum & Art Gallery PO1 2LJ and are outside – please arrive dressed for the weather. Booked places cannot be exchanged and are non-refundable. See below a list of event details and how to book.

A Feast Fit for a King (Sun 8 Aug & Mon 9 Aug)
Explore the stories of how and why a Tudor King came to visit Portsmouth. Take part in activities including sitting at the banquet table and hobby horse jousting.
Banana-rama (Sun 15 Aug & Mon 16 Aug)

Pompey Old Pompey New (Sun 22 & Mon 23 Aug)
Travel through time and explore the city of stories and discover how Portsmouth came to be. Write a postcard on how you imagine Portsmouth in 2040.
