At the 2025 Shaping Portsmouth Conference Clare Martin from Pompey In The Community made an appeal for businesses to help and support with building works. They are now looking for companies who would be willing to volunteer some time, expertise and, where possible, a small amount of resource to help complete one or more of the classrooms.
Over the last few years, Pompey in the Community has worked tirelessly to develop the John Jenkins Stadium into a community hub that will serve thousands of local people every year. The facility already boasts two full-size 3G pitches, a gym and community spaces, and are now incredibly close to completing the final piece of the jigsaw – their education classrooms and the cafe and office space upstairs. The first fix electrical works are complete, the mechanical systems including heating and air conditioning are installed, and the suspended ceilings all ready to go. However, they have now reached the stage where they need help to bring the classrooms to life.
PITC are looking for companies who would be willing to volunteer some time, expertise and, where possible, a small amount of resource to help complete one or more classrooms. This would include flooring and wall finishes. The current walls are painted breeze block, so there is complete flexibility for companies to put their own stamp on the room and create a space they would be proud to be associated with. The rooms simply need final fit out, perhaps breakfast bar or equivalent around the edges for desking and some personality. In recognition of your support, PITC would name your chosen classroom after your company for the next five years, ensuring everyone who uses the facility knows who helped make it possible.
Without these classrooms, PITC cannot fully deliver the education programmes, employability courses and alternative provision opportunities that so many young people in our city desperately need. With them, they can provide a safe, inspiring environment where young people can learn, gain qualifications, build confidence and develop the skills needed to succeed in life. This is more than a construction project. It is an opportunity to create a lasting legacy for Portsmouth’s young people.
If your company could help and transform one of our learning spaces Clare would love the opportunity to show you around the stadium and discuss what is needed.
