BAE Systems join the Shaping Portsmouth Family as a Patron

Shaping Portsmouth are pleased to announce that BAE Systems has joined us as our latest Patron.
BAE Systems provide some of the world’s most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions and employ a skilled workforce of some 89,600 people in more than 40 countries.

David Mitchard, Managing Director of BAE Systems’ Maritime Services, said, “BAE Systems employs more than 3,000 people in Portsmouth, many of whom are born and bred in the city. Contributing to our local community is important to us, and it’s great to be able to play our part in the city’s continued development.
“We’re proud to become a Shaping Portsmouth patron as part of our ongoing commitment to our city and to our local partners. We look forward to working with Shaping Portsmouth to create a lasting partnership for the benefit of our city and to help create and deliver innovative programmes that make Portsmouth an even better place to invest, live, learn, work and visit.”

Shaping Portsmouth CEO Stef Nienaltowski adds,
“The announcement we are making today about partnering with BAE Systems marks another significant chapter in our growth. The synergy between BAE’s STEM and Community programmes and our initiatives in these areas was evident from my first meeting with them. We both have the same goals of inspiring the next and future generations in the four essential STEM subjects and working with the community on their needs of today.
“David, Ben, Michele and the team at BAE are committed to getting involved and helping in any way they can, and it will be to the substantial benefit for Shaping Portsmouth and our programmes that they will be helping us in this way.
“Welcome to the whole BAE team and thank you for your confidence and support in what we are aiming to achieve.”
