Dance Live! Leaping to success with overwhelming response from schools, college and now dance schools!

Official registration for Dance Live! Portsmouth 2022, an exciting dance competition for schools and colleges, has now closed with a record number securing their place for the contest which is due to take place between March and May next year at Portsmouth Guildhall. Produced by The Guildhall Trust, the charity behind the operation of the Guildhall, Dance Live! embraces an ever-evolving digital world and how this is changing the face of modern performance with pupils performing choreographed routines to the backdrop of a giant LED screen with off-stage technical skills and creative design also being showcased. With a focus on raising aspirations and developing skills for creative career choices, Dance Live! delivers a range of supportive workshop opportunities and encourages all to get involved.

Over 4,200 pupils from 68 schools and colleges, from as far away as Cumbria, have registered for the prestigious 2022 event, with registration now open for a further event that has been added in Poole due to the overwhelming success. And with high levels of interest across the country, further locations are set to be added in 2023.

Interest has also been high amongst dance schools, studios and youth dance companies, with a Dance Live! Studio Edition recently launched to take place at Portsmouth Guildhall in May next year, but with registration closing on 15th October and places filling fast, you will need to be quick to get a place on this one! Head of Learning & Participation for The Guildhall Trust, Hayley Reay, said “Dance Live! is an integral part of the Trust’s Get Involved programme and we are delighted with how teachers, parents, pupils and now dance schools have responded to and are engaging with

the event since its launch in 2020. After running the 2020 finals and Dance Live! 2021 virtually, we can’t wait for young people to be able to perform on stage and in front of an audience once more. The competition compliments our wider creative careers programme and work in the community, and we are excited for how Dance Live! is set to expand in the coming years”. Businesses and organisations are also invited to collaborate on the event with a range of corporate benefits on offer. Previous sponsors of Dance Live! have included Hornpipe Theatre Company, Prospero Teaching, Wave 105 FM, Wightlink, Isle of Wight Ferries and Becketts of Southsea, with businesses encouraged to get in touch now to secure maximum exposure.
