A stellar Artist Alley line-up featuring some of the greatest writers and illustrators in the industry sponsored by online specialist marketplace, Catawiki, will be yours to enjoy at Portsmouth Comic Con – International Festival of Comics 2022!

With many guests from the rolled over 2020 and 2021 events now reconfirmed to appear at the epic comeback event at Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th May 2022, Portsmouth Comic Con is now delighted to also reveal some new additions to the guestlist.

Among the comic guests to reconfirm their attendance are Troy Alders, Marguerite Sauvage, Janet K Lee, Gary Erskine and Laurence Campbell with multiple Eisner, Harvey and Inkpot award-winning Artist and New York Times Best Selling Author, Adam Hughes, sending the following message:

“Hello, Portsmouth! Adam Hughes here. I love visiting England, and I’m dead chuffed (did I use that correctly? I’ve seen every episode of TOP GEAR) to come to what I am reliably informed is lovely Portsmouth. Sorry that ‘The Situation’ has prevented me from coming when originally scheduled, but we all agree it’s better to be safe than infected with a deadly global virus. I look forward to seeing you and I hope to bring lots of cool new stuff to show you, and we’ll all have a grand old time”

Adding to the reconfirmed line-up, Portsmouth Comic Con is now delighted to announce Annie Lawson and Laura Watton – PinkAppleJam as new additions to the fantastic selection of comic guests attending.

Annie Lawson started cartooning in 1980, a few years after completing a Fine Art degree. Initially selling postcards and t-shirts from market stalls in Camden Lock and Covent Garden, her first compilation Brilliant Advice! was published in 1988. Other books followed, plus strips in Honey magazine and The Guardian and between 1997 and 2014 she was in-house cartoonist at Lush Cosmetics. Annie has also written zine stories throughout this relatively mainstream career.

PinkAppleJam is the online ID of Laura Watton , an illustrator, cartoonist and artist; a name used for various illustration and personal work projects. Laura’s art has been published via Letraset, Sheffield’s Corporation nightclub, Shout Magazine, the UK Japanese Embassy, Tokyopop, NEO Magazine plus other publishers. Artwork and concept work has also been developed via PinkAppleJam for online games, indie shops, flyers and numerous art projects, and Laura has also hosted talks about making comics and produced a number of comic works, including stories featured in Sweatdrop Studios’ anthologies, Tokyopop’s Rising Stars of Manga UK & IR.

Celebrity guests, supported by Event Partner GoGeek Events CIC, have also been quick to reconfirm their attendance for 2022 including Pam Rose (Star Wars Episode VI, Batman, Superman), David Bulbeck (Labyrinth, Muppets Christmas Carol), Brian Wheeler (Star Wars Episode VI, Harry Potter), Madeline Smith (James Bond, Up Pompeii) and Britain’s smallest man, Michael Henbury (Star Wars – Return of the Jedi, Labyrinth, Harry Potter).

And now, also added to the growing Celebrity line-up is Peter Roy who, having spent his entire life in entertainment, is immensely rich in stories covering all aspects from Music Hall to film. Known for his roles as Major Olander Brit in Star Wars-Return of the Jedi and a Rebel Engineer in Star Wars-A New Hope, Peter has also appeared in many of the James Bond, Harry Potter and Superman films and the Indiana Jones trilogy. He has also appeared in some of TV’s most enjoyable comedy, sci-fi and drama classics including Dr Who, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Blakes 7.

The guest line-ups are just one part of Portsmouth Comic Con – International Festival of Comics which offers the best in comic, film, TV and pop culture entertainment with special features of a Star Wars walk-through experience, She-Quential (Saturday) celebration of female superheroes and a World of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Sunday) plus panels, displays, exhibitions, gaming, VR, steampunk, merch and the wonderful world of cosplay – all making for a truly unforgettable experience.
