Located in The Plaza, the Summer Boardwalk is reminiscent of the boardwalk amusement parks which sprung up across the coasts of the USA at the turn of the century. Guests can step back in time as they step onto the fully decked boardwalk, complete with festoon lights, an illuminated entrance arch and ragtime music.
The unique immersive experience features the 35-metre tall ‘Wonder Wheel’ at the heart of the attraction, with over 20,000 lights illuminating it at night to create a spectacular backdrop.
Riders can take in stunning views of Portsmouth’s harbour and an aerial view of the boardwalk. In addition to the ‘Wonder Wheel’, amusements will include a traditional carousel, a children’s balloon ride and an iconic ‘New York, New York’ funhouse.
For guests needing refreshments after enjoying the amusements, ‘Coney Island Hot Dog Co’ is serving up hot dogs galore – from cheese to chilli dogs. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge at a pick and mix sweets stall and a traditional churro’s stand. ‘JOE’s’ boardwalk bar will quench the thirst of visitors with a selection of frozen drinks on offer, including frozé, margaritas and pina coladas alongside mocktails, beers and soft drinks.

Gunwharf Quays ‘Summer Boardwalk’ is open daily from 10 am – 6 pm on Sundays – Wednesdays, and 10 am-8 pm on Thursdays – Saturdays until 4th September 2022.
