Shaping Portsmouth is pleased to welcome Simon Ingram as our new Apprenticeship Bus Programme Lead.
Every year, the Apprenticeship Bus embarks on an inspiring journey across the city, bringing apprentices from thriving businesses and organisations in Portsmouth directly to schools.
This dynamic initiative grants students a golden opportunity to engage with these apprentices in person, offering an authentic, firsthand glimpse into the enriching world of an apprenticeship.

Simon has been Managing Director at Mountjoy, a Portsmouth-based construction and maintenance company, since 2014. He originally joined the company in 2005 as a Management Accountant, before being promoted to Finance Controller, Finance Director, and finally Managing Director.
Simon has been an integral part of improving the business, playing a key role in redefining the company ethos and values and leading change within Mountjoy. He is a great supporter of social value initiatives within Portsmouth, upholding the company’s mission to enhance people’s lives in the communities in which it works.
Simon will bring his expansive experience of running a business to his role on the 2023/24 Apprenticeship Roadshow, utilising his organisational and communication skills to help ensure that the event is a success.
Simon said “I am happy to be joining the team at Shaping Portsmouth, as Programme Lead for this year’s Apprenticeship Roadshow. Over the recent months, Mountjoy have built a strong rapport with the organisation, and are great supporters of the important work they do around the city.
“The Apprenticeship Roadshow highlights to young people the opportunities available to them after leaving school, providing them with a deeper insight into future career paths. Having had one of our own apprentices attend the programme last year, I know first-hand how big of an impact the programme has on young people in the local community, and how fulfilling apprenticeships can be for those at the very start of their careers, and I am proud to be joining the cause.”
Kirsty Hill, Education and Community Coordinator at Shaping Portsmouth, said “I am thrilled to welcome Simon Ingram, Managing Director of Mountjoy as the new Programme Lead for our Apprenticeship Bus Programme. Simon is a hugely passionate community advocate and is committed to providing ongoing support to our beautiful city. Simon is going to bring a wealth of experience to the role, and I look forward to working alongside him and his team to deliver this dynamic and exciting initiative”
