A new Lead for the Shaped By Solent programme

Georgina Shepherd

The Shaping Portsmouth Team are pleased to welcome Georgina Shepherd, who has joined us as Programme Lead for Shaped By Solent.

Having lived on the South Coast for much of her life Georgina is passionate about both the City and the surrounding area. Georgina’s career has taken her from working in London in the city, to travelling the world with Virgin Atlantic, before settling back in Portsmouth. With over 20 years experience in different roles from financial services to customer engagement, to retail management, Georgina has more recently worked in Portsmouth at Gunwharf Quays in both Guest Services and Commercial roles.

The Shaped By Solent project brings together Solent Academies Trust, Shaping Portsmouth and a range of high-profile businesses to mentor and provide experience in business and public speaking to classes of SEND students.
Their task is to brainstorm, create, and present products the students could sell at the Shaping Portsmouth Conference, with profits from funds raised going to the schools to benefit their students and facilities.

Georgina said “I am delighted to be taking the lead on the Shaped by Solent project. I’m passionate about bringing business and education together. Having been involved in Shaped by Solent last year I had the opportunity first-hand to see the impact it would have and how we can give young people the aspiration and inspiration to be the best they can be.”

Shaping Portsmouth CEO Stef Nienaltowski adds “The Shaped by Solent programme was an outstanding success and was supported by our wonderful partner volunteers. Georgina was one of those volunteers and therefore I am delighted that she has joined us in this leadership role for the 2023 programme.

“Our organisation is based on our wonderful volunteers and Georgina is one of our shining examples. I am really looking forward to working with her to deliver this programme in the Autumn of 2023.”
