We are beyond proud and delighted to announce that Shaping Portsmouth, through our Armed Forces Covenant programme, has been awarded the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
The scheme recognises employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
The covenant is a national responsibility involving government, businesses, local authorities, charities and the public.
This success is made possible due to the support of our outstanding partners, staff, and passionate volunteers.
Shaping Portsmouth originally achieved the ERS Bronze Award in August 2019.
Stef Nienaltowski, CEO of Shaping Portsmouth, said “Our commitment to the veterans of all our armed forces and their families has been a cornerstone of our programmes over the past few years. So, to be awarded this Silver recognition for our work is a major achievement. We will never stop supporting those people, and their families who have given up so much for our country.
“I want to thank Sam McGrath from my team, who relentlessly drove this application, and Caroline Hopper from PCC who gave us some fantastic guidance and advice. Please do look up what is involved in both signing the Armed Forces Covenant and the application for the initial Bronze level of this worthwhile Employee Recognition Scheme. ”
Caroline Hooper, Armed Forces Covenant Lead Officer, Corporate Projects Manager at Portsmouth City Council said “This is wonderful news. It’s great to see Shaping Portsmouth’s work being recognised through this award. All credit to you Sam and your determination to get this over the line. Looking forward to continuing to work with you on this important agenda.”
Shaping Portsmouth Co-Chair Simon Barrable adds “many congratulations to all, and thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this.”
