In August 2016 we formed the Community Interest Company (CIC), Shaping the Future of Portsmouth and have since then been expanding our charitable work alongside the business-to-business programmes that have been, and always will be one of our principal objectives. The nine volunteer Directors of the CIC supported the proposal to apply to set up a Charity that enables us to expand the work we do in Schools and the Community and gives us access to grants from specific organisations in this sector.
I am delighted to announce that we have been granted that status and we have called the Charity the Shaping Portsmouth Foundation. The objectives of this charity will be to continue with all the programmes and projects that are aimed to help our future generations to explore their future and also to focus our resources on the Community programmes and projects that are so vital to help provide access to support for those that need it
Nothing changes with our overall vision to Transform Portsmouth Together, nor of the programmes or projects we run or support. But this addition to our legal status will help us with our sustainable goals as well as seek new funding streams only available to this sector. In addition to my role as one of the Trustees, I am grateful to Louisa Burton and Alison Lee for also agreeing to be Trustees for this new Charitable organisation.
