The Digital Enablement programme provides access to technology and support to students & vulnerable adults within Portsmouth who are unable to financially afford devices. This will enable students to continue digital learning from home and allow the adults to stay digitally connected with family, friends and assist in their daily routine, like online shopping, prescription ordering and job applications.
The programme is City of Portsmouth wide. Our mission, with your help, is to bridge the digital gap that exists within the City so that everyone has access to a digital device. The programme will maximise the usage of the funds raised to procure the devices/data packages and the funds raised will be 100% used for this programme in delivering against the demand. The request for devices comes directly through the Thinking Schools Academy Trust (TSAT) for our local school children and for our vulnerable adults, requests come from various City organisations like CAB, Red Cross, Age Concern and The Hive organisation.
The DEP is directly supporting the wider Digital Strategy as outlined by the Department of Education and led by Portsmouth City Council for Portsmouth. The programme also includes communities and organisations donating devices that are refurbished and made fit for purpose by our partner Enable Ability through their social enterprise arm Inter Activ, based at Landport Community Centre Portsmouth.
We are looking for a volunteer bid writer to help us secure the funding to support this programme. Key objectives for this position include:
- Identify organisations that are providing funds to support Community/Good Causes
- Socialise with organisations to get application forms for funds
- Apply appropriately in conjunction with the lead for funding from the selected organisations
- Monitor the progress of the application and take appropriate steps to progress
- Help lead in setting a fundraising strategy
