Choose Employability

Probation Service

Probation service users are more likely to be unemployed, have poor basic skills (literacy, numeracy) and inadequate educational attainment and attendance compared to the general population.

Employability is a key predictor of the likelihood of reoffending and an important target for intervention to achieve positive outcomes. Those who engage in prison/probation education, training or employment (ETE) activities are more likely to be employed and less likely to reoffend than those who have not.

Chaotic lifestyles, substance misuse, mental health issues, and poor social functioning are major barriers to engaging in typical interventions.

We have partnered with Probation Service – South Central Portsmouth & Isle of Wight Probation Delivery Unit to create and deliver a package that is accessible to low level offenders who are wanting to return to work and explore employment and training opportunities locally. All individuals must meet our referral criteria and must be fully consenting and engaged in the process. We work not only with the client but with the supporting team within the probation service to offer a fair, engaging and client led pathway that will offer positive outcomes for the client if they choose to fully commit and engage with the support offered.
