It’s been two years since our Crowdfunder project, Bridging Portsmouth’s Digital Divide, closed successfully and raised £5250 from 65 supporters, led by Husky Patel and Samantha McGrath. EVERY penny went to devices gifted to as many primary schools and vulnerable adults as we could reach. This success led to Portsmouth City Council securing us a further £10,000 of funding to keep the programme running.
Our Digital Enablement programme then went on to win a partnership award with Teach Portsmouth Live Awards, a very proud moment.
Shaping Portsmouth continues to co-lead the Portsmouth Crowdfund Programme with Portsmouth City Council, Su Johnston from Crowdfund and Marcus Wilson, Programme Lead at Shaping Portsmouth.
Currently, our free monthly ‘drop-in’ sessions are fully booked across the north and south of the city, but you can email the team at business@portsmouthcc.gov.uk and request to join the waiting list.
Here are a few current success stories, we hope this gives all local businesses, the confidence and inspires them to also get involved to ensure their business is sustainable long term and continues to thrive.
Polito Loco – Gemma Hammond’s dream is to become a truly sustainable, zero waste food business and needs your help to push their food truck along the way!
Beworks – To develop an EV charging unit that delivers a ‘universal’ benefit to the public, considering the elderly & drivers with special needs.
If any of these projects fit within your personal or business vision and you want to help our cities new innovative projects succeed and thrive, then please donate and share your collaboration with Shaping Portsmouth at contactus@shapingportsmouth.co.uk.
