International Men’s Day 2024 was the perfect day to launch our PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) tests for businesses, part of our Workplace Health & Wellbeing programme.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK with around 1 in 8 men being diagnosed in their lifetime. The key to beating it is early detection.
The PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test is a simple blood test that helps identify potential prostate issues early on. While it’s not a perfect diagnostic tool, it’s an essential first step in protecting men’s health.
On Tuesday 19th November, we held our first round of 60 tests with The Graham Fulford Charitable Trust, and our thanks go to Simon Ingram, Dan Carlin and Charlotte S. of Mountjoy for being such great hosts for the day.
CEO Dave Humphries said “Prostate cancer kills over 12000 men in the UK each year but it is a slow growing cancer and if caught early it is treatable. By running PSA testing we want to help men within our business community who may have prostate cancer but are unaware that they have it, to find out about it whilst they still have treatment choices. Leaving it until symptoms develop is often too late. This is also very much about doing something proactive on International Men’s Day to start conversations about men’s health issues which tradionally men haven’t been that great discussing.”
Huge thanks also to Mountjoy, Blake Morgan, HAHA Training, Unloc and Hovertravel for supporting men over 40 in their teams to attend.
As well as our PSA testing we have also been highlighting the great work and resources available to local businesses from the Men’s Health Forum, sharing the Man Manual.
Next stop for PSA testing is Portsmouth Water in a few weeks time followed by a much bigger event in the New Year. Want your business to be part of that? Then, please contact us to register your interest and get further details.
