Shaping Portsmouth welcomes a new Director of Community Programmes to the Board

Shaping Portsmouth Conference 2023: Chris Hillman

Shaping Portsmouth is pleased to announce Chris Hillman has joined our Board of Directors as Director for Community Programmes.

Born, raised, and educated in the city, Chris is now Head of Employability and Apprenticeships at Minstead Trust, which supports over 300 people with learning disabilities to develop skills that allow them to gain greater independence and lead fulfilled lives. They provide housing, day opportunities, and also operate the Lily&Lime Cafés around the city.

Chris is also Programme Lead for Shaping Portsmouth’s Charity Support Network.

Chris said “I am beyond honoured to join the board at Shaping Portsmouth. The organisation has been a great help to me over the years and is a firm supporter of Minstead Trust, it is wonderful to be able to give back.
As Stef often likes to tell people, my family has moved 1.8 miles in 160 years. Portsmouth is my home, it’s in my blood and I firmly believe it can be everything that Shaping Portsmouth wants it to be.

“The community programmes are close to my heart. Employability, The Armed Forces Covenant and Charity support are all programmes that I have supported in some way over the years and I am delighted to help them grow.
The Shaping board is made up of some of the most inspiring people within the PO Postcode, I am privileged to learn from them and pass their knowledge onto the people I support in my day-to-day work.”

Stef Nienaltowski, CEO of Shaping Portsmouth, said “The Shaping Portsmouth board of volunteer non-executive directors are a brilliant source of support, advice and expertise in their specific roles and as I explained at our recent annual conference each one of the ten carries a particular portfolio.

“Our Community programme as with our Business & Education ones needs a person familiar with the charity sector and able to advise and support the very programmes we run under that pillar.

“It is therefore with the utmost excitement that today we formally announce Chris Hillman as our newest board member with the responsibility for our Community pillar programme strategy. Chris brings from his Minstead Trust role a significant amount of both passion and experience to Shaping and coupled with the fact that he also leads our Charity Support Network programme, he does “walk the talk”

“Welcome Chris and I know you are going to be such an asset to the Board and the overall Shaping organisation.”
