Solent Freeport announced as Diamond Sponsor of Maritime UK Solent Awards

 

Maritime UK Solent has announced that the Diamond Sponsor for the inaugural awards in 2022 is the Solent Freeport. 

Brian Johnson, Chair of the Solent Freeport, said: “The Solent Freeport is delighted to be a major part of these inaugural awards, celebrating the success of the Solent’s maritime cluster. This sector is a significant contributor to the local economy, supporting nearly 200,000 jobs in our region, and leading the way in innovation. It is an industry full of ambition, and a major part of the Solent Freeport’s ambitions to create high-skilled jobs and opportunities for those in our important coastal communities.” 

 

Solent Freeport headlines a major group of businesses and organisations putting their weight behind the Maritime UK Solent Awards: Carnival UK, Associated British Ports, City of Portsmouth College, Get Set Solent, Mindworks, Royal Navy, Portsmouth International Port, Red Funnel, Royal Navy, Serco, Solent Local Enterprise Partnership, Solent Stevedores and Wightlink. The chosen charity for the inaugural awards is Wetwheels. 

 

The Maritime UK Solent Awards are being run by the industry for the benefit of industry, with award categories reflecting the key themes of the UK Government’s first long-term strategy for the sector, Maritime 2050.

The awards will be judged by a panel of internationally recognised maritime leaders and finalists in each category will be announced on 22 September during the Southampton International Boat Show. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 14 October at the Leonardo Royal Southampton Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton.
