On a special day for the Royal Marines family, Joe Standen, Shaping Portsmouth’s Armed Forces Community programme Veterans Lead, Royal Marines Veteran and Former Royal Marines Cadet was honoured to attend the pass out parade of 251 Company, Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps (RMVCC) Portsmouth.
Invited as a guest, Joe had the privilege of witnessing the newest recruits of 251 Company complete their training and formally pass into the ranks of this proud and historic youth organisation. The event, held with all the ceremony and tradition that defines the Royal Marines’ ethos, marked the culmination of weeks of hard work, discipline, and dedication by the young cadets.
“It was a real honour to be there,” said Joe. “Seeing the next generation of the Royal Marines family come through reminds us all of the enduring spirit, pride, and commitment that the Corps instils from the very beginning.”

Joe was joined by Mike Emery, the AFC programme’s Cadets Lead, further strengthening the city’s ongoing partnership with cadet organisations across the region. Their attendance highlights Shaping Portsmouth’s commitment to recognising and supporting the cadet forces and their vital role in shaping confident, community-minded young people.
The pass out parade not only celebrated the achievements of the cadets but also acknowledged the unwavering support of their families, the dedication of their instructors, and the community that stands behind them.
Shaping Portsmouth would like to congratulate all those who passed out and wish them the very best as they continue their journey within the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps.
