2026 Apprenticeship Bus Roadshow has the highest impact yet

Last month saw the Apprenticeship Bus take to the road for National Apprenticeship Week.

Over four days, the bus took 86 apprentices from 31 local businesses to meet 800 students from 10 Portsmouth schools, and give them an authentic, first-hand insight into the world of an apprenticeship.

In feedback from the students 83% said the sessions had inspired them to consider an apprenticeship, up from 79% last year and 76% in 2024. The overwhelming feedback was that the students would like the sessions to be longer so they could spend more time talking to the apprentices.

Programme Co-Lead Chloe Bolton said “It definitely felt like our best year yet. I’m glad the student feedback agrees.”

Our thanks again go to Portsmouth City Council, Moundjoy, Solent Careers Hub, Stagecoach (in particular Alice and Mark for driving us!), MediaFleet, and Portsmouth Creates for supporting the programme; ComServ, HTP Apprenticeship College, Inspire Futures, Portico, and the University of Portsmouth for sponsoring the bus this year; and all the businesses that let us borrow their apprentices!
