A new member has been added to the board of Shaping Portsmouth as it continues to support the growing work being carried out by the team.
Creative Clique owner Jo Alexander brings a wealth of experience to the board as a non-executive director with a specific remit to support marketing. With Shaping actively seeking new ways in which it helps drive economic growth and creates partnerships across the city, sharing the impact of these successes and the invaluable backing it receives from partners remains key.
Jo said: “ I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the board of Shaping Portsmouth. Having grown up in the area and now running a business locally, Portsmouth has always been a big part of my life. I’m proud to support the work being done to improve our city and help make it an even better place to live and work. I’m especially looking forward to working alongside the new COO, CP (Robinson), to help drive positive and impactful change across the city. I can’t wait to get stuck in and play my part in supporting the exciting work ahead.’
As an entrepreneurial business leader and founder of Creative Clique, Jo has more than 20 years of experience of building and leading a successful creative agency that serves a diverse range of commercial clients.
Jo started her career working with a number of key businesses, including Mini, L’Oréal and Rolls Royce, before deciding to strike out on her own in 2007 with the creation of her own business. She has seen this grow from a team of one to a team of 11.
Jo also puts her time back into the city by volunteering as an interview coach with the University of Portsmouth, helping students from creative and cultural industry programmes prepare for formal interviews and transition into professional careers.
Shaping co-chairs Yvonne Clay and Mark Waldron said they were delighted to add Jo to the board.
“We have an incredibly passionate and hard-working board who share their time and expertise in supporting our mission to help make Portsmouth a city where people choose to invest, live, learn, work and visit. We have great strength as a team but also a wide range of individual skills and Jo brings that deep knowledge of marketing which we need to continue to grow Shaping and ensure everyone in the city knows what we stand for and what we are doing,’’ said Mark.
Yvonne added: ‘Jo will be a great asset to the board. She is born and bred Pompey, with huge passion, can work across all marketing mediums and can really help drive us forward. She sees this as a brilliant opportunity – and so do we.”
Jo’s appointment comes at a time of other exciting changes at Shaping with CP Robinson taking up his post as COO earlier this year, Jane Moody joining as office administrator and Sarah Thompson joining as our new education lead.
