Networking event encourages businesses to strengthen their IT security

Last week Lisa Gibbs, our Business Digital Resilience programme lead, presented to Portsmouth City Council’s network meeting at the Kings Theatre.

Lisa, who is also Director of Philip Gibbs Insurance Brokers, gave attendees an overview of Shaping Portsmouth and the programme, its aims, resources available, and the partners involved, and then introduced Emma Mouncey and Ramata Touré from the Cyberclinic at the University of Portsmouth, who have been contributing articles on keeping businesses safe from cyber attacks.

Lisa said “Business networking events are a great opportunity for us to reach out to local business owners and tell them about the programme and also share some top tips for IT security and insight into current threats and risks. The feedback from attendees of the event was very positive. 22 people completed our questionnaire and said, after listening to the talk, they ALL plan to do something in their business in relation to their IT security, such as researching online resources, staff training, or reviews of their processes.”
