Portsmouth Ambassadors Reignite Their Passion for the City

On Monday 29th June, we brought the Portsmouth Ambassadors programme back together for a very special relaunch event and what better setting than the iconic Spinnaker Tower.

Portsmouth Ambassadors gathered to reconnect, reflect on what the city means to them and look ahead to an exciting new chapter. Richard Hale from the Spinnaker Tower shared some interesting facts about the city’s most recognisable landmark and guests were treated to cream teas and views that make Portsmouth so unmistakably special.

The evening also brought news from across the city. Joe Weston-McDowell gave an update on Portsmouth’s City of Culture bid, offering a glimpse into the ambition and creativity driving the campaign forward. Programme leads Terence Carvalho and Andrew Starr shared their enthusiasm for the programme and the volunteering opportunities for Ambassadors to get involved with across the city.

We were also delighted to formally welcome Courtnee Mitchell as our new Community Pillar Lead. Courtnee will oversee the Portsmouth Ambassadors programme going forward, brings a genuine passion for community and will continue to evolve the programme from here

Rounding off the evening, Charla Grant gave Ambassadors a first look at our brand-new interactive e-Learning module created in partnership with City of Portsmouth College, covering nine of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Designed to strengthen Ambassador knowledge and confidence, this resource will soon be available to every Ambassador in the programme, helping them share Portsmouth’s story with even greater pride and expertise.

With Portsmouth’s centenary year in full swing and so much to celebrate across our city, there has never been a better time to be a Portsmouth Ambassador. If you’re passionate about this city and want to be part of something meaningful, we’d love to have you on board. Submit your application here!
